Tough Owl

We are in the midst of a several days of very windy conditions culminating with a significant storm in a couple of days. A friend and I were out early in the morning two days ago and came across this Barred Owl perched in a tree not far from the road. It was a gray morning and 23F (-5C) with a strong north wind. The owl looked as windblown and uncomfortable as us.

All of us, including our owl friend, will be hunkering down for strong winds and heavy rain for a few days. The rain/snow line will be close so I could be doing some shoveling before going out again!
