Warblers

Warbler migration is winding down and with the exception of a few summer residents, they are headed north and inland. This is a collection of the ones I was able to see and photograph in the past week. Not the greatest variety in my experience but it is the hunt and the photography challenge that I enjoy. Warblers are very active and forage in the foliage. The combination of motion, shadow and obstructing leaves and branches really makes one work for a reasonable photograph. Some of the following are not the sharpest pictures but they document a portion of the great variety of these birds that pass through our area each May.

I’ll be keeping an eye out for a couple of warblers that breed here and that I missed this spring. And I may see some others on a trip to northern Vermont later this summer. Thankfully vaccines will let me visit family, friends and some favorite birding sites!

  1. Love seeing all of these warblers….think I liked the Canada Warbler most of all, but knowing how fast these birds moved, you’ve done great not only getting on the bird, but ending up with great pictures of each…
