The local birds have finished their breeding season and things are quieter. Tree Swallows have started gathering into flocks before they head south. There were a couple of hundred gathered on the phragmites along a pond. The flocks will number in the thousands later in the summer. There will be lots of opportunities for catching them in flight.
Great Blue Heron landing:
A Common Yellowthroat peeked out from the canopy while foraging.
An Eastern Kingbird perching and then kiting over the brush as it hunted insects.
Finally, I caught this Bank Swallow in the morning fog and a Willow Flycatcher resting and taking a break from its insect hunt.
