My previous post generated a bit of interest in this photogenic raptor so I am posting a few more pictures that I took that day. There were actually two Swallow-tailed Kites in the air that morning. The first one we noticed had a prey item in its beak. It later transferred it to its talons or possibly to its companion. These birds are extremely agile flyers that can catch dragonflies and pluck small prey from tree branches. I suppose one could pass an item to its mate if it wanted to do so. My previous post only showed the underside but two of these photos show the all black topside.

Great captures.
