I have been planning to do a series of posts on the migrants passing through my area in the past few weeks. But I keep getting side-tracked. First the Tree Swallows have been performing their annual display as they prepare to leave us (previous two posts). And now an Osprey provided a bit of a show for me this morning. It will also be moving south since it needs open water and, despite the continuing heat, our ponds and lakes may freeze eventually. This series of photographs captures a successful fishing expedition for this Osprey. He hovered over a particular spot in the pool for quite some time before diving and capturing his target. The series starts with his preparation and follows his dive and subsequent capture.

He liked the spot so much that he returned a bit later to look for a second course.
Great sequential shots!
