Found while reorganizing files. These photos were published a few years ago as part of a longer post. I like the action so let’s have a rerun.
A Barred Owl was being harassed by a group of birds that included Crows, Robins, Blue Jays, Chickadees and more. They were very vocal as they constantly swooped at the Barred Owl as this American Crow is doing. The Owl is clutching a Blue Jay that got a little too close. The confrontation ended when the Owl flew off with the unfortunate Jay.

I just managed to get a quick shot of the Barred Owl making off with the Blue Jay that wasn’t quite quick enough that day.

Great shots! I usually find barred owls because of blue jays complaining. I think catching it is part you are an easy catch and part you are interfering with my hunt and giving me away, therefore you are to be taken out.
