The pandemic has kept me close to home here in Massachusetts since early March. But a year ago in May, I visited the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge in the northern part of my home state of Vermont. It had been a wet spring and trails were a bit flooded in spots but the birds were plentiful.
There were resident warblers: Yellow Warbler and Common Yellowthroat (with the black mask).
I am not sure what this Tree Swallow did, but he got a pretty good scolding and a dirty look.
Speaking of dirty looks, doesn’t this Green Heron look like he’s telling the kids to get off his lawn?
A few other notable sightings were a Common Raven, an Osprey on the nest and a young Bald Eagle.
I’m looking forward to safer times and a return trip.

Nice…really enjoyed part 1…FYI, pics in the email notice display in vertical format but when in the main log, display side by side…I’m not complaining, just letting you know the difference…liked the comparison of the reddish egret 5o the white morph too!
